Zarcillo earrings are handmade, using Australian-sourced materials combined with recycled, found and natural items sourced by the maker herself.
Each pair is unique.
The focus is reuse and re-imagination of the ordinary that surrounds us. Recycled materials are used for packaging.
Four categories are offered:
- Beads (traditional)
- Seeds (seeds, seed pods and nuts)
- Barks (bark from native Australian trees)
- Sparks (unusual, avant-garde, asymmetric or single)
Why Zarcillo? Zarcillo is a Spanish word for earring, and also for tendril, that lovely green grasping curl of plants that connects them to their surroundings.
Zarcillo displays and sells at local markets. A larger selection, including earrings not yet placed in the online store, is available at markets.
Zarcillo supports strong action on climate change for the benefit of all of us, especially the next generation. All proceeds from our shop at the Old Bus Depot Markets on Sunday, 10 March 2019 were donated to SchoolStrike4Climate.
All Zarcillo proceeds from the Old Bus Depot Markets on Saturday and Sunday, 21 and 22 of December 2019 ($600) were donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, in appreciation for their dedication and bravery in the face of the horrific 2019 fires.
